Thumb Drives

February 28th, 2007 by Nina

It has been quite the week so far.  On Sunday, I decided I should upgrade my FreeBSD box to 6.2.  That ended up page faulting during the boot up.  I tried everything to get around it but instead nuked the box.  I considered Ubuntu vs FreeBSD 6.2.  I went with FreeBSD cause it makes me feel smarter but I think Ubuntu has some serious benefits.  Anyway, it is back and running fine.  I fail at FreeBSD.

On Sunday, the cat decided to tell me her true feelings of her food.  She has special food for her urinary tract and she doesn’t seem to like it much.  She puked in three different spots and then refuses to eat (for the first 30 minutes at least…)  She finally eats it but she is not pleased about it!

We had a fire drill at work that stressed me out a bit.  I believe it is in order now but I have a 4 GB thumb drive being Fed Ex’ed to me tomorrow.  I wonder if I really have to return it…. :)
Work has also being testing my OSPF knowledge which is not hard to do since I hardly know it.  I am thinking that routing is not for me and in fact I find it rather annoying!  We should just route the internets with static routes and metrics.

I saw a bald eagle outside work.  It was beautiful.  I am told we see them often so I guess I need to look at the window more often.  I do have a window cube so….

I also saw a converted 747 which is one of those huge double decker planes.  It is to bring parts over from Asia.  I have seen them before but they are still cool.

I love Blake from American Idol.  I am tired.

When the kitty ain’t happy, no ones happy

The extended trip to Spokane has stressed kitty out a bit.  I hope she gets better soon because it’s driving me nuts.  The cats in Spokane were good entertainment for me though.  I had 30-40 pound cat on the bed nightly.  They managed to take up less space than my 7 pound rat.  Odd.

I finally got into Freakenomics.  I feel smart reading a smart person book.  I do have to disagree that red curly hair boys do badly on online dating websites.  Women are so dumb sometimes.

My dad had a routine colonoscopy today and lucky everything is normal.  Very good news.

Snow

February 3rd, 2007 by Nina

It’s snowing.  I will head back over the mountains to warm up tomorrow.

The flight on Wednesday was nuts.  I sat next to someone deathly afraid of flying.  She kept hitting me and demanding I tell her what’s going on.  Weirdest flight ever.
