Upgrades

May 31st, 2007 by Nina

I have nothing exciting to say.

I upgraded WordPress and Gallery.
My mother purchased a macbook.
My dad had one of his retirement parties today and I was able to go. We didn’t tell him so he was pretty surprised.
He has taught for 42 years.
Tom arrives on Saturday.
I was suppose to go to a wedding on Saturday but it was ‘called off’ because the groom is in jail.
I finished my Project Management class on Tuesday.

I think that is about it. I have a week and one day until I start my new job.

Oh… the TV drama

May 24th, 2007 by Nina

I called comcast last night with hopes of getting HBO to work. It now works less than it worked before. 1 of the 4 cable cards would tune into HBO. Now, none of them. I called them again and the nice lady on the phone wasn’t sure what to do either. She flashed some signals at it and now nothing works. Lucky, cable works without the cards I just can’t get higher HD channels and HBO (not like that mattered). She called a supervisor within a few minutes and gave up. They are sending someone out on Saturday.

I also called Tivo and they are sending me a replacement. They were pleasant to work with after the first lady hung up on me. It took less than 10 minutes to finish the RMA up. He asked if I wanted to take the survey. I said do you get a bonus off it? He said yes and so of course I asked what I need to put to get him a bonus…. He was better than I would have been and just said what you think I deserve. I of course gave him all 5’s which is the highest.

Tomorrow I am skipping out early to get a massage. My upper back on my right side is killing me. Yay for three day weekends… I don’t even know what I will do with the time.

Exciting day!

May 23rd, 2007 by Nina

I finally got a nice path/road type bike that doesn’t scare me and fits well!  I got a Gary Fisher Utopia.  I am totally excited.  It rides pretty nice but that short little test ride was a little more painful that it should have been.  It’ll be a fun summer.

F5 Networks was ranked 9th fastest growing tech company in the US by CNN Money today.  In my usual Nina style, I started to recruit the comcast support guy.  :)
Speaking of comcast, my series 3 tivo is acting up.  I think the hard drive is toast.  Tomorrow, I get to spend time with Tivo.  Today, I spent time with comcast because the cable cards were not syncing up.  They fixed that but couldn’t figure out the HBO not working.  He thinks he figured that out and then gave me a year HBO free!  I was going to cancel anyway but glad I didn’t I guess.

Today was insanely busy so I hope it slows down so I can get some work done…

Books!

May 21st, 2007 by Nina

I am working my way through Learning Perl by ORA.  I would like to find some other books for scripting so if you have a recommendation, please let me know.  TCL, perl or something like that.

I had my yearly physical today and the assistance asked if I was single with the hopes of getting sexual history out.  It seems rather odd to ask someone if their are single to see if they are sleeping around.  You could be married and have 10 partners or single and have none.  Anyway… I just love well women check ups.

Insane cat

May 19th, 2007 by Nina

The cat has seriously lost it.  I don’t think she was feeling very well this morning and she is making up for it all tonight.  She has been running around for hours now.  I really think she needs a turtle to entertain her…. and a house.  A big house to run around in so she doesn’t bother me.  :)
In order news, I am spending a lot of time reading up on stuff.  I purchased the Art of testing network systems.  I am also going through Learning Perl by ORA.  So much to do and learn… so little time.

Next weekend I have my hair appointment which took 2.5 months to get.  This man better be the best in Seattle.

New Job!

May 16th, 2007 by Nina

I have accepted a new job in Performance Testing.  I am exciting and nervous!  My start day is June 11.  It’s still at F5 Networks which good since its a great company.

In the mean time, I have to finish all my projects and hand things off.  I will probably be in tears on my last day.  It was quite a ride for 2 years and 3 months.  And they even said I could come back if I wanted to.  :)
In other news, Tom has created a monster by getting me a bluetooth wireless headset.  It is a way cool gadget.  Everything else is fine and dandy.
