Kayaking + Weekend

July 29th, 2007 by Nina

My team at F5 Networks decided to go Kayaking for a team building event.  I haven’t been before so it seemed fun.  It was a good time and we went for about 6.5 miles.  I did fall in a little at the end but I didn’t get too wet.  I do have tons of bruises all over my legs but I blame Tom and not the falling down on the wet rocks with one foot in the kayak and the other on the rocks.  No, it was Tom.

Tonight we went to see Daft Punk at the WaMu Theater.  It was ok but it was full of complete asshole frat boys.  I did not expect people to be so pushy and just argh assholes!  I had a bunch better time at the back or in the stands than in the middle of the stage.  So to the assholes that pushed through and then jumped around like assholes… well fuck you.  I felt good calling you an asshole to your face though.  Really good.

What was up with the crowd surfing at a daft punk concert?  Is this the 90s and was pearl jam around?

Weather

July 22nd, 2007 by Nina

I could live without the humidity…. really. Good weekend… Tom comes back to town this week so he will be able to experience his first torchlight parade, nordys sale and anything else I drag him to. He loves that.

Well, off to the airport to pick up my jet setting parental figures.

I am so old.

July 19th, 2007 by Nina

Tomorrow is my 29th birthday.  I feel pretty old and not so thrilled for the big 30 coming soon.  I was planning on having a quiet depressing birthday alone but it turns out my brother and his better half will be in town so we are having dinner.  Saturday will be spent at the Nordy’s sale!

I am having an MRI tomorrow on my knee.  I have been having issues with it clicking while I bend it.  I went to PT and she didn’t think there was anything wrong with the muscles/flexibility.  I pronate a bit more in right than left but that was about it.  When she was moving my leg around (passive for me) it was cracking/snapping.  She thought that was ‘odd’ and since it’s been waking me up at night… screw it and give me an MRI.  We will see how that goes.

Work is fine.  Tivo is happy.  Comcast can’t support cable cards and hasn’t a clue how to get HBO/Showtime working other than send someone out.  The cat is needy and misses Tom.

It’s hot!

I knew it was going to be a bad day when it was 78 inside the condo at 1pm.  Tonight it was at 87.  Yes, insane.  Tom picked a great day to leave the state.  I just dropped him off at the airport so I could come back to a needy cat and a very hot condo.

The last two weeks were good.  We went on a boat to watch the fireworks on Lake Union.  It was a good time but a long day.  I had to work so there went the holiday.  Work is good and busy.  The new job has been a nice change of pace and a chance to learn a lot more.

My parents are both in Paris having a good time.  I am jealous that everyone is taking a plane trip but me.  I was trying to plan my vacation time.  F5 Networks gives me 20 days of PTO a year and in the next year I want to take at least 5 weeks off.  I have 2 weeks saved up so I should be good!  This years (and next.. I hope) travel includes: drive across the county for the first time, Las Vegas,  Hawaii and Europe.  Since my parents are moving to London, it’ll be a must visit.  I am not sure where I’ll go outside of London but Amsterdam is a must and possibly Berlin since my mom has not been before.  Any recommendations?  I have enough airline miles for a free airline ticket so that is nice.  The travel bug has hit.

In other news, my VoIP provider Teliax can’t seem to get international calling working.  Any recommendations on providers

Also, it seems the cat rather have Tom take her picture:
