Turtle Vet

July 28th, 2008 by Nina

We spent part of Saturday at the turtle vet! The little turtle named foo had a big ouchie on his little foot. It looked bad and I was thinking cancer but lucky, it was just an abscess! The doc drained it and gave us 14 days of antibiotics. Now, you might ask how do you get a turtle antibiotics… well you do it via a needle! Yes, thats right. I am now giving shots to the turtle. Tom has to pull his tiny hand out then I find the muscle and inject. I can honestly say that I never thought I would be giving a turtle shots.

The big turtle named boo is doing a little better. She has some shell problems but we hope to resolve that with more Vitamin A. All in all, a good appointment. I highly suggest Bird and Exotic Clinic on Aurora in Seattle.

Today, my lovely employer took product development to Batman at the local imax. It was a good time and better than working but now I am behind… hmm… Speaking of being behind, I leave for Europe next week I think. I have been ignoring it for some reason. I am going to miss Tom, the kitty and the turtles.

Birthday, Cruise boats and Nordys

July 20th, 2008 by Nina

We got a special offer via work to go on a cruise boat and have lunch. It seemed like fun so we went!

I love watching them come in and leave but I am not sure about the whole cruise thing. Honestly, a lot of the boat smelled like poop. I know there are issues with the sewer but geez! I refused to use the bathroom while I was on the boat but Tom had more guts than me (or a smaller bladder).

After the cruise boat, we went to the Nordy’s sale and looked around. Tom took me to Palisades’s for dinner because it’s my 30th Birthday today. It was decent but I think I miss Daniel’s! Who is up for a girls night out???

We are Northwesterns now!

Tom has been complaining that we aren’t Seattle like and that we should go do some outdoor something. I found a easy hike within a hour of home and so off we went to Twin Falls! It was classified as “easy” and great for kids. There were a lot of kids on it but I am not sure I would say it’s easy. There are a few big hills once you get past the bridge. Anyway, I can do it… no doubt most can. I posted the pictures here: http://ninaforsyth.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=29627

Excellent trip!

July 10th, 2008 by Nina

Well, we had tons of fun this week. Tom’s kids are lots of fun and a joy to be around. I took Wednesday, July 2nd through Wednesday July 9th off from work. The schedule was jam packed!

Sunday - The Seattle Ducks which the kids LOVED! I have been on them three times and love them. When Pascal (the 5 yr old) wanted me to see something, he would put his little hand on my arm and point. He pointed a lot. I was wondering if his finger was tired! It was weird that about 70% of our duck were folks that lived in the Seattle area.

Monday - The kids went to the Science Center with Papa while I went to work. They saw some kids movie at the Imax and had fun I hear.

Tuesday - The kids hung around Ballard and went to a movie at the local movie theater. I was suffering at work!

Wednesday - We took the kids to the Museum of Flight in the morning and then drive down to the Great Wolf Lodge! We ran to the room, changed into our swim suits and had a ball at the water park. They loved the wave pool the most which of course was the one that scared Tom and I the most. Otherwise, they were fearless and tried every water slide at least once.

I was planning on sleeping on the couch in the hotel room but Pascal let me share his bed. It was fun!

Thursday - We woke up and grabbed some breakfast at the lodge. We were trying to figure out if we wanted to go back to the water park and since we saw a bunch of kids playing this weird game we decided to check the cost of the game. It was freakin expensive! 15 dollars per wand and 10 per game. That means 25 dollars per kid. It is so annoying because the game opens treasure chests around the hotel which of course 5 year olds think is really freakin cool. We decided to skip the game and go to the water park.

We spent a couple more hours at the water park and then drove back home. Nothing like sleeping kids in the car!

The lodge was fun but the trip adviser comments were 100% correct. Check-in sucks and takes about 30 minutes in line. The food sucks so bring your own. The marketing to kids is highly annoying but you can figure out ways to go around it… like take the stairs instead of the elevator to miss the video game room.

Friday - The boys and papa went to the Mariners game while I went to the store and packed for the trip. We had steak and hamburgers! We watched the fireworks from the roof but I think kids would have rather watched it on TV or skipped it and watched Dirty jobs instead.

Saturday - I had my flight to Montreal in the early morning and Tom flew out on a red eye. I got to Montreal and tried to find something to eat but there were fireworks or something and tons of people. It was annoying! The hotel was nice and I got to have a lovely bath.

Sunday - Tom arrived and we headed over to his ExWife’s area to have lunch and see the kids one last time. Lunch was good and it was nice to meet his ExWife. After that, we went to check in at our hotel, the W in Montreal. The hotel is totally hot and had clear blue glass shower which lets you see a nude person in the shower from the bed. Way cool….

Monday - Went and got the rental car and then headed to Boston!!! It was a nice drive and only about 5 hours. We went through three states I haven’t been to before. I also got to see the famous Friendly’s which everyone talks about. I also saw tons and tons of Tim Horton’s and Duncan Donuts. Anyway, we got to Boston and went to Legal Seafood for dinner and took the metro back to the hotel. We stayed at the Westin which was a nice hotel.

Tuesday - We took a hop on and off tour for the day. We went to a few places but it was so freakin hot that we didn’t hit everything we might have wanted to. It was a fun day none the less. Dinner was yummy at the Atlantic Fish Co.

Wednesday - We woke up at 515AM EST and started the drive back up to Montreal. We got there about 12PM and had a 2PM flight to Toronto. We were on a 777 again for a one hour flight! Nuts! Once we got to Toronto, we had to go through US Customs and Immigration. It seriously sucked. There was no information about where we were suppose to go. It took forever and our 2 hour layover turned into 40 minutes. We were starving and Air Canada doesn’t serve food (well that’s included at least). Anyway, we managed to get some crappy airport pizza and made a last stop to Tim Horton’s.

The flight to Seattle was over 5 hours and we were sitting in front of a kid with a stomach ache. We smelled his farts through the whole flight. Tom’s swears that farts aren’t that bad and that there was poop involved but who knows. The flight attendants were annoying and only did a full drink pass twice in the 5 hour flight and water three times. Thats it. My TV thingy wasn’t working so I hit the attendant button and they walked past it and turned it off without talking to me TWICE. He finally came by and said he would reset it but never did.

We finally got home at 915PM PST. Talk about a long day…..
