There is no doubt in my mind that the cat uses me for heat and food. Damn cat.

Sick Kitty

October 30th, 2008 by Nina

Damn cat…. sick again.  It seems she has a bladder infection this time around.  I also have kitty prozac (or something similar) so hopefully she will stop making herself sick.  You see, we have an EMO cat.  She started self harming by cutting herself.  She had scars on her neck and most of her fur is gone (and she didn’t have much to lose!).

Tom was against anti-depressants for kitty but I think it’ll help.  It was only 11 dollars for a couple pills.  Tom might approve more now that the vet said it might make her loopy.  She has a lovely habit where she pees when you take her out of the condo.  She thinks this will help with that problem.  Although, I did get her kitty diapers and I would sure love to diaper her up!

Tomorrow Tom and I are going to take our over age asses over to Freak Night and enjoy a little of that new fangled electronic music.

Cat love

September 30th, 2008 by Nina

I woke up to a cat paw in my nose. She was head butting me so I put a pillow over my head to try and sleep. She was determined to love me so she started sticking her paw under the pillow and up my nose it went.

Volunteering!

September 10th, 2008 by Nina

Finally, after waiting over a year I am going to be volunteering at Pediatric Interim Care Center! I am very exciting. I will work a 1.5 hour shift on Sunday’s. Tom likes to sleep in so it shouldn’t bother him too much. Anyway, I have training tomorrow so wish me lunch. Lots has changed in a year but I am thrilled to still have the chance to do this.

This weekend Tom and I are going to San Juan Island (and maybe Vancouver if Tom gets off his lazy butt). The cat will be visiting the grandparents and will be thrilled I am sure. She loves running around their house!

Tom and I went to the mortgage broker on Monday. We are looking pretty good for purchasing a house. I am going to spend the next month getting my condo cleaned up and ready to go. I know the value has dropped a little so there is an option of renting it on the table but we will have to see. Being a landlord would suck…

Turtle Vet

July 28th, 2008 by Nina

We spent part of Saturday at the turtle vet! The little turtle named foo had a big ouchie on his little foot. It looked bad and I was thinking cancer but lucky, it was just an abscess! The doc drained it and gave us 14 days of antibiotics. Now, you might ask how do you get a turtle antibiotics… well you do it via a needle! Yes, thats right. I am now giving shots to the turtle. Tom has to pull his tiny hand out then I find the muscle and inject. I can honestly say that I never thought I would be giving a turtle shots.

The big turtle named boo is doing a little better. She has some shell problems but we hope to resolve that with more Vitamin A. All in all, a good appointment. I highly suggest Bird and Exotic Clinic on Aurora in Seattle.

Today, my lovely employer took product development to Batman at the local imax. It was a good time and better than working but now I am behind… hmm… Speaking of being behind, I leave for Europe next week I think. I have been ignoring it for some reason. I am going to miss Tom, the kitty and the turtles.

DO NOT WANT

Weekend update

May 18th, 2008 by Nina

This weekend I made mint triple chocolate ice cream with mint oreos and angel food cake! Tom was unaware that you could “make” ice cream so that was fun. Here are a copy pictures from this weekend:

Kitty is not pleased.

There was a fire outside the condo so Tom grabbed his laptop, then the cat and headed out. The cat then peed on him and shredded his shirt (which I hated!). Here is the aftermath:

Awake

Nothing like waking up to a cat head butting your nose at 630am… while purring of course.

Sick Kitty

Kitty dug her way under the blanket in order to hide from the world. I think she is feeling a little better but the vet did call and want to do an ultrasound of her kidneys. The only difference in treatment between a cat UTI and cat kidney infection is 6 weeks of treatment instead of 2 weeks. I am going to take her in at 2 weeks for another UA to see if she needs another 4 weeks. Anyway, I hope she gets better soon!

Tom is off to Canada so it’s nice and quiet. :)

Poor kitty

March 30th, 2008 by Nina

I should have listened to my instinct that said she was NOT ok. Ever since we got back from PDX, she has been acting odd. I didn’t take her to the vet because how do you treat an odd behaving cat. Anyway, I come home on Thursday and noticed she had peed on a rug. This is VERY odd. The only other time she has peed in a place besides a litter box was when she had crystals in her bladder. I called the vet right away but they couldn’t get her in that late. I dropped her off on Friday morning at 8AM and they weren’t able to get urine form her until 6:30PM! When they finally did, they found lots of blood. :( Argh… I feel so bad for not listening to my instinct and taking her in. They sent us away with a double dose of anti-boitics.

It has not been fun getting the meds into her. Tom has to hold her legs down and I have to put the meds in her mouth. She has now decided I am not nice and sits on Tom’s lap now. Oh well, he is leaving tomorrow to visit his kids so I’ll need to figure out how to do the meds myself.

I just upgraded wordpress and the lj cross poster doesn’t activate due to fatal error. I’ll need to take a look and see if I can hack it up. So that is a warning to those that use that plugin… :)

Edit:  The solution is to comment out:

if(version_compare($wp_version, "2.1", "<")) {
require_once(ABSPATH . '/wp-includes/template-functions-links.php');
}

Otherwise, I am working about 70-80 hours a week right now. My coworker is out on PTO so I am it. If there is a positive spin on it.. I am learning tons. My other coworker sent me an article about how women cry more at work. She was annoyed by such a classification which I totally understand but then I told her I am a crier. I think I got it from my mom. She can cry with seconds notice. Anyway, I have only almost cried twice in two weeks. The full on cry hasn’t shown up yet. I believe I am going to be going to Interop in Vegas so that might be a well deserved break or not. :)

Anyway, it is time to get ready and start the day.
